The project
The purpose of this project is to create a real or fictional movie poster. The artwork must be composed using stock or original photography (no copyrighted imagery from the original films). Once the poster has been created, I resize the artwork as a Facebook event banner.
Rationale
To start with this project of poster, the main inspiration come from the movies “Back to the future” and especially the number 3.
This movie take place during the Far West period, the background with “Monument Valley” have been choose to symbolize this. Therefore, it is also one of the landscapes which have been captured in the film.
To contrast with this time period, the road is here for make a connection with the modern timeline from the previous movie, also the flames are there for make a relation with one left by the DeLorean machine after a time travel. Furthermore, it is mean we are moving to the elements on the horizon. The 1885 print on the road represent the timeline and provide us the message than we are arrived to this timeline.
The cowboy in the sky represent the main character looking at the clock, which is present on every movie, but also symbolize the time, time travel, and the goal to reach on this story. The steam train going out of the clock provide us an important aspect of the movie, as it will be the key to access to this new way to travel through the time.
To conclude, all the elements of the poster is inspired by the period where the film take place, only the road is here for make the reminder of the previous movie. When we start to follow this road to the cowboy, who is watching the clock and the steam train, it is a way to have an idea of how the movie going without giving all the plot.
